Gino Bordin : born in Italy in 1899 ,moved to Paris in 1926 and started pro career as a banjo player backing some of the best known accordionists of the day . Began recording on Hawaiian guitar around 1930 ...quickly became the leading player in France and popular in Holland and Germany too ...with a style unlike anything heard in Hawaii or mainland USA at that time . His repertoire comprised waltzes , tangos ,steel guitar duets with friend Alex Manara ,and musette . Became well known in the mid 30s with his own radio shows ,had recording deals with several of the French "majors" like Odéon and Parlophon making several hundred records up to the early 1940s. Continued to compose songs and occasionally record with the great musette accordion players like Viseur , Frédo Gardoni , Louis Ferrari ,Léon Raiter . Switched from 7 string Selmer Maccaferri Hawaiian guitar to electric steel in the late 30s when his friend Maccaferri brought a 7 string National back from the USA for him. After WW2 found work harder to come by , but continued to write music , give lessons and occasionally record into the 1960s .Died near Avignon in 1977
